About Avonmore, Edmonton
Avonmore is a quiet, well-established residential neighborhood in Southeast Edmonton, developed primarily in the 1950s. Known for its single-family homes, the area has a high proportion of residents over the age of 50, contributing to its peaceful, community-oriented atmosphere.
Bounded by major roadways and the scenic Mill Creek Ravine, Avonmore offers easy access to the North Saskatchewan River Valley park system and is close to Bonnie Doon Mall for shopping and services. The neighborhood is named after Algernon William Yelverton, Viscount Avonmore, an Irish priest and adventurer who passed through Edmonton during the 1887 Klondike Gold Rush expedition.
