About Keheewin, Edmonton
Keheewin is a primarily residential neighbourhood in southwest Edmonton, developed in the 1980s and fully built out by the late 1990s. It is bounded by 23 Avenue to the north, 111 Street to the west, 17 Avenue to the south, and Calgary Trail to the east, providing easy access to major roadways and amenities.
The community consists mainly of single-detached homes, with additional housing in low-rise apartments, row houses, and semi-detached homes. The neighbourhood features curvilinear streets, a commercial area along 23 Avenue, and proximity to Century Park, which offers additional businesses and an LRT station. Residents also enjoy several parks, a sports facility, and an elementary school.
Keheewin is named after Chief Keheewin, who signed Treaty No. 6 in 1876. The name means “eagle” in Cree.
