About Meyonohk, Edmonton
Meyonohk is one of 27 neighbourhoods in Mill Woods and part of the Lakewood community. The Government of Alberta created the Mill Woods land bank in 1970 to address rising land costs. The City of Edmonton developed the area, starting in 1971.
Residential development in Meyonohk began in 1975 and was mostly completed by the early 1980s. The neighbourhood features a curvilinear street layout with pathways for pedestrians and cyclists. Housing includes single-detached homes, row housing, and low-rise apartments. High-density housing and commercial sites are near recreational areas and along collector roads.
Meyonohk, meaning “an ideal spot” in Cree, reflects the neighbourhood’s proximity to Mill Woods Park and employment hubs.
